Dear Students and Parents:
I hope that you have been enjoying the summer. We welcome back our 7th and 8th graders and give a special welcome to our incoming 6th graders. Within the coming week, you will be receiving in the mail your child’s 2010-2011 class schedule, Student Demographic form and Free and Reduced Lunch information. We look forward to a wonderful year with your child.
6th Grade Orientation will be on August 26th from 8:30 am to 10:30 am. Our 6th graders are to gather in our Dining Room first. We will discuss PBIS expectations, as well as answer any questions that students have.
We will also open the building for 7th and 8th graders on August 26th from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm. Our 7th and 8th graders are welcome to find their classrooms and to let guidance counselors/assistant principals know if they have any issues with schedules (and hopefully get them corrected before school opens).
Again, we will conduct a staggered opening to smoothly transition our incoming 6th graders into their middle school. This is our planned school opening schedule:
- September 7th- First day of school for 6th grade only!
- September 8th-Grades 6th, 7th, & 8th- School is open!
I also want to share important information about your child’s schedule that I hope clarifies questions you may have.
- I suggest holding off purchasing school supplies until teachers tell your child what they will need for the school year. It is a safe bet that your child will need pencils, pens, notebooks, binders and loose-leaf paper.
- Every 6th grade student has lunch every day. If you see lunch A or B that means you eat lunch either the first half of 4th period or the second half of 4th period.
- Home base is part of first period class. First period is extended for a short time to allow for school announcements, short club or team meetings, attendance, etc…
- Our school day starts for all students at 8:10 am. We open our school doors at 8:00 am. Dismissal is at 2:42 pm.
- Locker combinations and assignments will be handed out to students on the first day of school.
If you have further questions please do not hesitate to contact me.
Regards,
Brian Archer, Principal
